Holiday Countdown #24

For numero veinticuatro in my holiday countdown I am taking you all the way to the balmy land of drug lords and chalupas. That’s right suckers donde esta MEXICO?

Honestly I don’t like this song all that much and I probably like #25 more, but I am a man of the people and I know some sucka MC’s out there like this one. Overall it isn’t too terrible with the festive sounds of Christmas pinatas and typical horns and shit. At the end of the day you also get a small lesson in Spanish to boot, so you know this is one for the educators.

I will say that I find this video to be a bit confusing though. Am I really supposed to believe it is snowing in Mexico on XMAS or is that really Frosty the cokehead in the front lawn? I bet that guy is a jolly happy soul until he starts coming down from his three 8-ball weekend and has to steal money from the kids at the bus stop just to get his next fix.  Seriously, at the 35 second mark we have old boy Papa Noel and Frosty chucking powdery substances at each other in some right of passage so you can rage in the North Pole. Frosty must be in charge of bringing the extra curriculars to the workshops after XMAS rave, you know those goofy leprechauns in the North Pole must have done something bad to get sentenced to working in a toy factory instead of knowing where that golds at.  I may have my holidays confused…

Until tomorrow kiddos!

There was some latin shit here once, but nobody uses that language now except the Pope…and I am no Pope. What I am is a student. Not a student in the literal sense, but someone who believes that you have to always be challenging yourself to learn. Not necessarily things we have learned from textbooks. My learning is more about putting myself in difficult situations to understand more about me and the world around me. It is the challenge that allows you to grow as a person. That is my philosophy. Some of the things that I will eventually get around to posting may focus on that, reflections on a life that has seen me through the rust belt to the new (and not so new) south and through a life abroad. However many of these posts will focus on the lighter things that interest me. My obsession with 80’s/90’s pop culture, my obsession with sports especially of the Cleveland and Ohio State variety, and maybe even my obsession with musical theater…who knows. Maybe somebody will read this, maybe they won’t…but that isn’t the point. The point is that if I find something interesting I will try to dissect it here, maybe not timely (I do have a day job) but eventually.
